Tanit Plana is a Barcelona-based artist, photographer and educator whose practice examines bodies, institutions, systems of power and social relations through photography, expanded portraiture, installation and artificial-image technologies.

Her work is held in major public collections including MACBA, MNAC and CA2M. She received the First Prize Fundación ENAIRE 2025 for Stress Position, the PostBrossa 2025 Award, a Leonardo Grant from Fundación BBVA (2016), Barcelona Crea (2020), a VEGAP grant (2021) and Art for Change – Fundación “la Caixa” grants (2012, 2022).

Recent exhibitions include Disfuncionàries at Fundació Joan Brossa and Disfuncionarias at Museo Cerralbo / PHotoESPAÑA (2026). Her work has also been presented at Canal de Isabel II and L’Auditori de Barcelona.

Her current research investigates institutional violence and bureaucratic exhaustion affecting unaccompanied migrant minors, alongside an expanding inquiry into photography, artificial intelligence and contemporary forms of intimacy.

Plana combines her artistic practice with an extensive career in education, including projects developed in youth penitentiary centres and with young migrants. From 2026, she is Director of the Master in Photographic Creation and New Audiovisual Formats at ESCAC.

She studied Audiovisual Communication at Universitat Pompeu Fabra. Her work understands photography as a means of articulating body, image and politics, and of examining how institutional structures shape vulnerability, autonomy and freedom.
