SEMEN
a fotonovela about milk and the powers and interests around fertilization, pleasure and control.

Bolaño puts it in more profane words: Fucking is the only thing those who are going to die want. Fucking is the only thing those in prisons and hospitals want. The impotent want nothing more than to fuck. Those who are castrated want nothing more than to fuck". What remains, then, is the desire to fuck. But, and this seems to me the remarkable thing about his story, it is not about having sex with that particular doctor, that particular woman, but about desire itself, which may be embodied in this or that body, but rather depersonalized: it is pure desire. Life depends on desire, and death is the dark well where there is no longer anything to desire. Nothing and no one can be desired or desirable anymore. Death, seen in this sense, is restlessness, lack of curiosity, unwillingness to obey any impulse.
